About the Role

The Huntington seeks a strategic and collaborative Collections Data and Digital Assets Manager in the Digital and Technology division. The successful candidate will have proven data administration and project management experience in a dynamic and diverse research and cultural heritage organization. Reporting to the Head of Integrated Systems, the Collections Data and Digital Assets Manager provides management of and support for The Huntington's digital asset management system RAIL with over 1.2M assets and 250+ internal users. The manager-level position oversees the comprehensive governance of the three-year-old DAM initiative and ensures the organization's deliberate growth and efficiency in managing institutional digital assets including webhooks and integrations with collections databases.

Major responsibilities include managing integrations, system upgrades, new feature requests, user management, documentation, and training. The CDDA Manager facilitates user groups including biweekly administrator meetings, quarterly governance meetings, and ad hoc updates and meetings to different staff and user groups.

The role requires highly organized and synergistic individual with excellent communication skills and a deep knowledge of and vision for digital asset management across diverse teams and use cases. S/he/they will demonstrate a background of working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, geographic, and socioeconomic backgrounds using a welcoming, inclusive, and accessible approach for highly technical and non-technical users.

Essential Duties
  • Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of The Huntington's digital asset strategy, identifying priorities that are in alignment with the DAM roadmap and institutional strategic priorities
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the DAM system RAIL, including: Troubleshoot urgent issues, providing user support, and conducting training, Develop and maintain reports to stakeholder groups, Perform regular audits of users, assets, taxonomy, and metadata, Conduct system biannual and ad hoc system upgrades and feature enhancements
  • Manage the development, implementation, and maintenance of collections database and content management integrations and webhooks to The Museum System (TMS by Gallery Systems), BG-BASE, and Drupal
  • Partner with stakeholder groups to develop and maintain policies and procedures for the institutional use of digital assets
  • Partner with collections database administrators in Art, Botanical, and Library to develop, implement, and maintain technical requirements and documentation for applications, features, and governance
  • Keep up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in digital asset management, making recommendations for improvements to the DAM, and contributing to sector-specific knowledge sharing
Candidate Requirements and Experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Master's degree in library science, information science, or a related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in administering enterprise digital asset management software with a deep understanding of DAM principles and technologies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a proven history of engaging diverse stakeholders
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Familiarity with copyright and intellectual property laws related to digital assets
  • Preferred:
  • Experience with OrangeDAM by OrangeLogic
  • Experience with ETL tools and processes including APIs and Python-coded tools
  • Familiarity with Drupal
  • Familiarity with International Image Interoperability Framework (IIIF) protocols
  • Familiarity with art, botanical living collections, and/or library cataloging databases including data standards and taxonomic concepts like authority lists and vocabularies
Working Conditions

Ability to sit in an office setting for long periods of time with periodic travel around the campus to meet with departments, conduct trainings, perform media assessments, and review the implementation of workflows in interior and exterior spaces.
