ABOUT THE ROLE: As a Market Manager, you will be the face of Neighborhood Farmers Markets (NFM), working across the organization to plan and oversee all market operations. This position is ideal for someone passionate about farmers markets as inclusive community spaces and capable of working with vendors, shoppers, and community partners to build and maintain community relationships, as well as support new growth and initiatives.

Market Preparation and Community Engagement Duties:

  • Create and implement effective operation plans for each market day.
  • Ensure all pre-season, opening day, ongoing market days, and end-of-season tasks are completed thoroughly.
  • Collaborate with fellow Market Managers during weekly meetings for support and problem-solving.
  • Adapt quickly for new vendor opportunities and community events to enhance the market experience.
  • Maintain positive vendor relations and communications.
  • Represent NFM to community groups, local organizations, and businesses, seeking opportunities for partnerships to expand market accessibility and inclusivity.

On-Site (Market Day) Duties:

  • Create a welcoming atmosphere and continuously improve the market experience.
  • Supervise setup and teardown, including street closures, signage, layout, and safety.
  • Supervise staff with constructive feedback and enforce duties and expectations.
  • Manage the market according to the NFM Vendor Handbook and safety protocols, ensuring fair policy implementation.
  • Supervise on-site food access programs, maintain records, and support participation.
  • Assist with on-site marketing initiatives, sponsorships, and seasonal programs.
  • Facilitate participation of nonprofits, musicians, community partners, and sponsors with necessary support.

Administrational Duties: Maintain year-round roles through projects like scheduling, vendor relations, budgeting, surveys, supplies, and organizational goals, primarily in the off-season.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ATTITUDES:

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Basic math skills for handling money.
  • Physically able to lift 25 pounds safely.
  • Reliable vehicle for transporting materials.
  • Experience in planning or managing events.
  • Problem-solving, conflict resolution, and mediation skills.
  • Experience supervising staff.
  • Community outreach or organizational relationship-building experience.

Compensation: $67,000 annually or up to $52,250
